Really brilliant research! MSC should be investigated for aiding in child sex trafficking via freight? Has BlackRock become too big to break apart? I hate that DJT is being fed false information & is willing to work with BR.
Again an incredible expose of the manoeuvrings and manipulations carried out by our Leaders. I must say I am disappointed that President Trump has been found lacking and ill-advised (?) in his understanding of the Panama Canal situation. He is another hero of mine at this point in time where our once great Society desperately needs a Saviour from the Big Evil of Marxism and Globalisation.
I found this wonderful analysis while seeking to understand the operation & purpose of Blackrock! I am now empowered.
Thanks Cynthia. A very powerful organisation formed by the Oligarchs and Plutocrats for the very purpose. The plans are age-old just improved and advanced in our life-time alike in many other sectors.
But I wonder how long Black Rock will have to recoup its investment...America's power is waning already...and there are other ways to get around South America to the coast...
OH MY GOD— so my question is— how can these monster consortiums be brought to heel? Obviously (as is now sinking in from reading all you’ve revealed Cynthia) they collude deeply with govts to run everything everywhere! Is there any way to undo the suction of their tentacles??? Like— pardon my naive hopefulness— like maybe BRICS and it’s alternative payment system might counter Black🗿&🪨 etc monopolizing and privatizing every supply chain access and infrastructure under the sun? Not to mention moonlighting as drug traffickers and probably much worse…
PS. I have learned so much about from you and Matt but somehow reading this article today…..😰
Can’t China just buy up at least these 2 Panama ports?? How awesome it would be if BRICS+ countries owned all their own seaports and airports and canals…and if only Trump and Carney were not just tools of the evil empire’s conglomerate
I enjoy your work, but I have some questions. First, you use the BBC and the Financial Times as the sources for the evidence against any unfair treatment in China’s favor regarding the canal. I question why would these sources be the mantle from which you build your argument, especially after the recent revelations about USAID and the bias, lies and blatant slander of these sources in relation to anything about Trump? Furthermore, a basic search into evidence of China’s actions in the canal leads me again to question why you use these sources to present Trump’s concerns as being completely invalid, when we both know that is not the case. Second- Chinese troops being positioned at the ports? Also not happening according to the BBC and Financial Times..? Again, a basic search leads me to question why these sources end all questioning of Trump’s accusations? Maybe there was a time when this was acceptable- that time has ended. Maybe you are relying on the hatred of anything BlackRock- which I share- to gloss over the use of these questionable sources to deny the claims being made against China- that is not going to work either, obviously. I realize that all too often, China is made a boogeyman for the west; however, do not expect your audience to take the word of the BBC and the Financial Times to determine the validity of Trump’s claims about the canal. We have more ships/cargo/military vessels traveling the route so we should be charged more? We import more Chinese goods then any other country on the planet, so we should be charged more? Sounds logical until we- the US- start applying that logic in the other direction, then it is suddenly not logical and Trump is simply building the economy without creating any jobs (unlike Biden who created all those sweet government jobs that bloated our government and padded the economy enough for the BBC and Financial Times to write “there is no inflation” articles) I do not have the answers but I know I am not going to form my understanding of the situation based on anything spewed from the BBC or the Financial Times.
Hi Sheila, I have pinned a comment at the top of the comment section largely in response to your comment. It is an excerpt from an article published by the Newsroom Panama which I will add to the original article for further information for readers. You can read the excerpt at the top of the comment page. I would like to highlight that in their response to the following claim that “The Chinese government controls the Panama Canal.”
Answer: Panama controls, manages, supervises, regulates, cares for and maintains the Panama Canal. There are no Chinese military personnel stationed in Panama, instead, the Panama Canal Advisory Board is chaired by retired Admiral William J. Flanagan, who was head of the U.S. Southern Command.
Sheila why are you acting like Cynthia's entire article relied on the Financial Times and BBC??? She has pointed out that what Trump has said even about this history of the US building the Panama Canal is not accurate nor honest, nor the US history with Panama. Trump acting like he can "reclaim" the canal is not a justified stance for a government that is supposed to be respecting the sovereignty of other nations. As for you stating that Cynthia is just expecting people to ride on their hatred of BlackRock to criticise this Panama Canal port buyout, um, yes, that is pretty relevant since it is BlackRock that is wanting control over these ports and Trump has very publicly backed this. Why are you acting like there is some sort of grey area here. It is no secret what BlackRock is, and in case you didn't know, I think Cynthia shows a great deal of evidence for this from MULTIPLE SOURCES and it is no secret Trump is supporting this deal and that he is also funded by Blackstone. You focusing on Financial Times and BBC as if this is the only thing Cynthia is bringing up in this paper is quite lame. She mentions them in two sentences of her 7,000 something word article that they also acknowledge that China does not control the Panama Canal nor that there are any Chinese soldiers stationed there. There is no evidence for this. If you are certain there is, then it shouldn't be too hard to come by right? Anyhow you are focusing on two lines in her entire article that you cannot even disprove Sheila. Give me a break.
The whole argument is that Trump’s claim of “China operating the Panama Canal,” is based on the argument that China is getting “unfair treatment in China’s favor,” and that “Chinese soldiers are positioned at these ports,” along the PC are u founded based on evidence from 2 sources. That’s it- the BBC and the Financial Times say these facts are not true and Cynthia presents this as evidence for the underlying basis of the rest of her 7,000 word article, which I read. I did not counter with sources that contradict these sources as I looked into it myself and would expect other to do the same- if they care enough about the topic. She starts with the argument that Trump’s claims are wrong and gives me 2 sources that, in my opinion, have not been trustworthy on any level on any topic related to Trump since the lead up to his announcement for his 1st run. The rest of her article is based on that foundational argument- Trump is wrong and it is allowing BlackRock to make a big move, etc. Is he wrong? He could be, but other more reliable sources are saying he has every reason to be taking action related to the PC. If the foundation of your argument is weak- it casts a shadow over everything else you present. That is all I am questioning, and I thought we were allowed to question- especially when the sources for an argument are untrustworthy...? I am not attacking Cynthia, nor trying to attack her work- as I said, I enjoy her work. Because I respect her, I will question things that do not line up- as I would anyone I respect. Last time I checked- we need to question everything, look into arguments that matter to us and compare sources for the information we take in so we can form our own opinions?
Regardless of what you think of China, if you think Trump is justified in his actions in all of this, you are supporting that Panama be treated as a US colony and that BlackRock execute this will. That if US does not agree with a country's choices in who they do business with, then the US has the right to intervene in such matters in their favor. This is not just about BlackRock purchasing these ports from CK Hutchison. Trump made it crystal clear in his very own Truth Social post that he challenged the President of Panama's claim that Panama was sovereign and posted an image calling it the United States Canal. This is the overall attitude that the Trump administration has been conveying to Latin America in general that has been seen clearly by Marco Rubio's visits putting pressure on countries to stop any economic relations with China and I think we can safely bet this request is not coming with its fair share of very scary threats. You are completely ignoring this reality Sheila. Do you stand by this sort of posturing adn think Trump is justified in this sort of disrespect?
Sheila. You seem to be ignoring Trump's claims to want to take over the Panama Canal. Are you for this? Do you think this is the United States' right? As for the unfair treatment it was addressed outside of the FT and BBC, which was that the US makes up 75% of the canal traffic and this thus it pays more based on this, that is per ship/cargo. The article also brings up that the United States also operates ports in the Panama Canal zone. There is no evidence presented by Trump as to how their very own ports are somehow hindered. He makes vague statements of unfair treatment. As was already stated, Trump has been shown to be factually wrong in his account of the US' role in building the Panama Canal, has lied astronomically about how many Americans died building the canal as well as Panama claim today over its sovereignty in operating this canal after decades of US colonialism. Trump is known to be 100% wrong in these accounts and America's "claim" to the Panama Canal. As for BlackRock's role in this, what are you talking about, that this is somehow contingent on whether you think Trump is right or wrong on China? So, somehow it is ok for BlackRock to take over these ports? That somehow this erases the fact that this is not done for the benefit of anyone except the clients they work for? You can question things Sheila, but you don't seem to be questioning the right things here...
Tom Luongo & Caitlin Long discuss moves by the Admin & the Fed to decouple financially from the old European powers, especially with the switchover from LIBOR to SOFR, a process which began during Trump I & completed just recently (March 31). I have no idea what's really going on between the US & China, but I do know Trump seems to be playing both face & heel (depending on the bias of the viewer) in a TV show called Trumpamania, along with all his various TV characters, with all the world as a stage.

Great forensic work and impressively written, Cynthia.

Thankyou again Cynthia. It is a lot to absorb 🤔
Very well documented and written! Thank you!
Most of the people don’t know that our world is still governed by Maritime laws…
Regards.

Wow...amazing research!
But I wonder how long Black Rock will have to recoup its investment...America's power is waning already...and there are other ways to get around South America to the coast...
Fantástico, como siempre.
Eres una excelente investigadora.
What you are revealing is truly mind-boggling and a vast interwoven web of deceit. lies and power-broking. Very complex...
Absolutely Brilliant Analysis!
Thanks for link to The Panama Deception! Great documentary
You deserve far more than a brief thanks for all your work but for now I hope and trust that this will do.

This is highly speculative, but could some mechanism such as this EO be operating behind the scenes? https://trumpwhitehouse.archives.gov/presidential-actions/executive-order-blocking-property-persons-involved-serious-human-rights-abuse-corruption/
