"Erdogan flip flops alot!" My favourite understatement this week. If you played poker with Erdogan you would soon find your pockets are empty and you would be left wondering what game you were actually playing. However Russia and Turkey do seem to have a good relationship in a very peculiar way.
To quote Sergey Lavrov in todays news conference when asked about the role of Turkey he said
"As far as Turkey’s role is concerned, yes it has its own position that it does not conceal. We do not have identical views on all issues; far from it. We have serious disagreements on many aspects of the regional situation. As our cooperation on Syria and later on the Libyan crisis showed, our presidents, while clearly outlining their views, respect each other’s positions. Instead of aggravating the existing differences, both leaders are trying to take into account each other’s concerns. This is how Moscow treats Ankara and Ankara reciprocates."
